We headed to Lake George and Lake Champlain area after visiting my hometown. Heading to Brookwood RV park we came to understand preferred RV routing as calculated by an app isn’t always the best choice after dark. The only thing I could see was the edge of the road and many 15 mph speed limit signs followed by winding roads and ridiculously steep grades. The GPS showed a very big lake on my side but we saw only blackness. 30 miles seemed like an eternity. I did call the RV host and she stated that she clearly emailed us to NOT take this route pulling our size rig....needless to say as we approach over a month on the road we are working on our communication skills. We did arrive safely and I thank God everyday Steve flew fighter jets as I always think in my mind as I am losing my !!*&% that he is better equipped to handle this STRESS. After a glass or 3 of wine we decided that leaving the next day was just not going to happen. That combined with expected snowfall in Vermont and New Hampshire convinced us to stay a couple more nights. We were set to mountain bike in Vermont the following 2 days. It was a bummer but we are trying to embrace the flexibility of RV travel.
We in turn seized the opportunity to visit the Lake Placid area. We are happy we did because it was stunning. It was a steep climb up Mt Jo with fabulous views. Sandie scrambled up the rocky slope like she was in “American Ninja Warrior”. The leaves were a bit past peak but that did not matter. We were able to check out Lake Placid. It was hard to imagine this quaint town hosting the Olympic Games. (Keegan and I watched ”Miracle on Ice” last December - GO USA!). Although this was an unplanned delay, it was another fabulous adventure (Minus the drive in pitch black conditions!)
