December 21 - January 15th

South Texas would not be a destination we would normally ever consider on this adventure, but because grandma Judy winters here, we happily made the long journey to Port Aransas. The boys were SO excited to spend Christmas and New Years with grandma and grandpa. Sandie was very excited to be there too as she could run for miles on the beach (and she gets lots of love from grandma). Any time you can spend with family is incredibly special and we were grateful we made the trip!

Some of the highlights:

The boys got to golf a few times with grandma Judy! They had a blast. Keegan also spent a morning fishing with grandma and grandpa. Cullen decided he was committed to a vegetarian life, so he opted out;).

We took over Judy and Jerry’s RV spot at Port A RV Resort. The view of the wildlife refuge was incredibly peaceful. The boys loved that they had 2 pools to swim. OH and bonus...the cost to RV in Texas is a fraction of what it is in Florida! You also drive your vehicle right on the beach so parking was not an issue (and parking is also ALWAYS an issue with an over-sized F350 dually...ESPECIALLY when I have to park this beast!).

The boys had a blast decorating Christmas cookies with grandma. On Christmas Day, after opening presents from Mom and Dad in Big Bend (our 5th wheel), Santa left a very special note for the boys...apparently he could not fit his presents in our 5th wheel so he instead left some special presents at grandma and grandpa‘s condo. Ripstiks were huge hits for both boys, although at first Cullen was not onboard with attempting to ride on a rotating board with two extremely small wheels. Both boys were extremely excited about sharing Christmas with grandma as we usually are in Bend while she is in Texas...The only thing that would have made this Christmas even more special is if we could have “beamed” grandma Margaret to Port A. It was tough being away from her!

The boys spent some fun nights with G. Judy and G. Jerry. Teaching grandma and grandpa the game of Sorry was sure entertaining! This is a time they will never forget.

I loved having family help me cheer on my Buffalo Bills....”Let’s GO Buffalo”....what a season! KC we are coming to get you!!

A special bonus to the trip...Steve was able to take a walk down memory lane as this is where his journey began as an FA/18 pilot. I can’t say that I would have been excited to live in Kingsville had I met him during this part of military journey...just sayin’.
