Lake Tahoe is filled with so many beautiful memories for us with Steve’s time at Topgun. Our boys were babies when we would spend weekends in Tahoe while stationed in Fallon. It was the PERFECT location to end our 8 month adventure!

We had the best RV site in South Lake - Tahoe Valley Campground. It also was conveniently located just miles from the home of our dear friends, Carson and Travis. We had lots of fun exploring the local brewery scene!
We filled our days with hiking and sightseeing while trying to close up the boys school year. Tahoe is nothing short of spectacular when you get of the beaten path that is. Although it attracts so many visitors, it really doesn’t take too much effort to find awe inspiring beauty without the crowds

(of course keep in mind this was their “off” season). Our favorite hikes were Eagle Lake and the Tahoe Rim Trail. We remember hiking these trails with the boys in their backpack carriers! What a TOTALLY different experience this was at ages 11 and 12! We were so thrilled to have Sandie experience Tahoe. SHE also loves nature and was so happy here and her happy place was the off-leash Nevada Beach!
After lugging our skis and boards 14,000 miles we FINALLY were able to make it happen! Squaw Valley was still open so we took full advantage of spring seasons finest! The boys LOVED being back out there! Steve and Keegan also were able to hit the bike trails.
The hardest part of this trip (aside from Steve having to do all the driving with NO help from me) was the fact that we traveled during a ever-changing pandemic. We made a choice to try to stay as safe as possible and keep all our loved ones safe…and with that we did not see so many friends and family that we would have just LOVED to have seen. In Tahoe, we were happy that we were able to see two other dear friends, Mark and Chris and also end our trip hanging with our BEND friends that made this same journey, Jeff and Julie! In such a challenging time for our world, we were able to have this unimaginable, life-changing experience with our family. What a blessing! CARPE DIEM!
